This is a 'friendly tournament' involving 10 'pub teams' from the expatriate community in Paris, with of course participation from some of our French colleagues.
The tournament will take a league format with each team playing the other 8 twice. Whoever comes out on top will be declared the winner.
Should two teams have the same number of points at the end of the tournament, then a final between these two sides will be arranged.
All matches are to be played between September 2009 and March 2010, all games have to be completed before the end of March 2010......see fixture list.
Due to the tight schedule of the fixture list, each team will be permitted a maximum of 3 postponements during the season. Once the option to reschedule 3 games is used up, teams will have to forfeit points if they can not field a side. A 'Tankards Fixture Spreadsheet' will record any postponements and be available to team captains upon request.
There are now referees for the league; please note that the referee's decision during matches is final and that they should be respected at all times. Teams are expected to bring a linesman with them to each match in order to marshal the opposing side's touchline.
Yellow card offences do not carry forward to the next match.
A second bookable offence in a game should result in a red card and a one match ban.
A straight red card for a bad tackle will result in a one match ban.
Violent conduct / abuse of the ref will be penalized by a red card and a 3 match ban
An enquiry will be conducted by League officials after any red card offences.
** Please note that the Tankard's League is insured for this tournament; however it is recommended that those individuals who are not insured through their workplace, avail themselves of the insurance cover option offered by Axa Insurance by contacting them at: agence.volsey-puteaux@axa.fr.
Finally, we ask that all games be played in the 'spirit of goodwill' that is expected of the international community in Paris!
